Commissioner Bahomvya was speaking in an interview with the Burundi Press Agency on the sidelines of the opening of a training workshop on Humanitarian Border Management, for police officers working at posts of the borders like Gisuru, on Burundi side, and police officers working at Mabamba border posts, on Tanzania side.
Migration flow management.
“The city of Bujumbura houses from 5 to 9 November 2018 a regional seminar bringing together police officers from Burundi and Tanzania in charge of migration for Border posts of the two neighboring countries in order to strengthen their capacities in the management of the migration flow, “he said.
These Border Posts, he explained, share “several realities” in the management of migration flow and, consequently, in the management of problems related to the intervention of humanitarian aid.
“Indeed, our police officers in charge of migration at border posts with Tanzania came from other structures of the Burundi National Police (PNB). This is why officers assigned to border posts, senior police authorities must ensure that they are capable of handling the management of migratory flows at the common borders between Burundi and Tanzania “, he said.
Burundi and Tanzania share some common interests.
